2017 AGM Day
The AGM was held in the Crypt of Christ Church Spitalfields on Saturday 7th October following the October Business Meeting and general ringing. Around 50 members were present at the meeting. It was good to see members from outside London and indeed the UK come to the meeting as well as the more local members.
We were pleased to elect David L Wilcox from Toronto as a new member of the Society.
There were three changes to the Officers’ lineup: David Bath as Honorary Secretary, Michael Crockett as Senior Steward, and we welcomed back Ben Constant as Junior Steward; and Doug Beamont was elected as Trustee. The current posts are filled as follows:
| Master | Thomas Mack |
| Senior Steward | Michael Crocket |
| Junior Steward | Benjamin Constant |
| Honorary Secretary | David Bath |
| Honorary Assistant Secretary | Penelope Sharpe |
| Honorary Librarian | Geraldine Forster |
| Honorary Treasurer | Barry Mack |
| Trustees (2) | Ian Oram |
| Douglas Beaumont | |
| Independent Examiners (2) | Frank Rivett |
| Michael O’Callaghan |
We expressed our appreciation for the contributions given by the outgoing Secretary, John Ford after 6 years in post, and to Mary Holden and Heather Forster Senior Steward who stood down as Junior Steward and Senior Steward respectively.
Special thanks (and a floral tribute) were given in particular to John Barnes who has stepped down as trustee after 21 years.
Members were also asked to come and support the London 12 Bell competition coming up on 28th October, which the Society is hosting at Shoreditch. Volunteers on the day will be welcome to help host and also cakes are needed.
The Triennial dinner is coming up in 2018, and members were asked to put it in their diaries to make it a night to remember.
The Master, Tom Mack thanked everyone for their support during the year, where the standard at practices and attendance has been moving forward. We look forward to further progress in the coming year.
After the meeting, we tried a new venue, The Kings Stores, where we had the upstairs area to eat and drink at our leisure. This seemed to be a successful venue and we may try it again for Wednesdays when we ring at Shoreditch, as it had plenty of room and good food and beer.
