Michael J (Mick) Edwards) obituary

4 January 1942 to 15 April 2020, aged 78.

Mick learnt to ring at Sandon, Essex, in the 1950s and rang his first peal in 1954 aged 12. He lived and worked in Essex all his life.

His peal ringing career did not really take off until 1990, and he rang over a 1,000 since then. He was not a prolific method ringer but was seen as a reliable treble ringer and most of his peals were on that bell. The majority of his peals were for the Essex Association and the Suffolk Guild. Latterly, he rang nearly 300 peals on mini-rings, his ringing on heavier bells being curtailed by an earlier stroke.

He joined the Society on 11 March 2000 and rang 38 peals, the last one was with an Essex band in 2010.

He had a further stroke earlier this year but was making good progress in hospital. Unfortunately, he contracted coronavirus and died in April.
