Peal Weekend Quiz Night 2020
The third weekend in November usually signals the opportunity for members of the SRCY to gather together up and down the country for our annual peal weekend. Unfortunately, Boris had other ideas this year. Despite valiant efforts by the officers to encourage handbell attempts, Lockdown 2 got the better of arrangements and it was not to be. Rather than forego the event altogether, it was decided to host a society quiz night via Zoom. The format was unusual, using the platform to decide our teams round by round and giving members a chance to meet friends and other members of the society they perhaps hadn't spoken to before. Each round lasting 10 minutes and the questions giving the "ice breaker" for conversation. The Junior Steward did an excellent job of being question master with round including film antonyms and "who's the daddy?"! The questions were followed up by a chance for people to break out into rooms of their choosing for a chance to catch up with those we hadn't seen on the quiz. The younger contingent managing to last through to the early hours. Huge thanks must go to the officers for their flexibility and organisation to get the event arranged so quickly. Fingers crossed peal weekend can follow its usual format in 2021
