2015 AGM Day
The AGM was held at St Martin in the Fields hall on Saturday 3rd October following the October Business Meeting. Before the meeting there were 3 peals scored and general ringing at St Martin in the Fields.
We were pleased to elect two new members, Joanna Knight and Robert Criddle. Sadly, we also remembered four members who had recently died: Hannah Hotston, Frank W Lewis, Ronald Noon, and William Crouch.
We heard more about the project that is being led by Alan Regin which hopes to give Belgium its first set of change ringing bells at St George’s Memorial Church, Ieper; a BRF grant application is expected soon.
There were 3 changes to the officers lineup:
- Master: Tom Mack, who has been Senior Steward for the past 2 years;
- Senior Steward: Ben Constant, returning as an officer after a year’s break, having previously been Junior Steward for 3 years;
- Junior Steward: Mary Holden, returning as an officer after a 2 years’ break, having previously been Senior Steward for 2 years, Treasurer for 3 years and was Master in 2009/2010.
We wish them all well in their new tasks.
Thanks were given to the outgoing officers: Alan Regin, our departing Master, who was presented with a bottle of wine to help him enjoy his recent retirement, and also Nick Brown, the outgoing Junior Steward. A promising start from Nick whom we hope to see in the future as an officer; and a very much appreciated further stint from Alan, who has led the Society in the 80s, 90s, and now 10s!
There were 57 at the meeting; slightly down in number, due to some stalwart usual attendees attending the dedication of the bells at Meldreth. It was good to welcome members from across the country, across the channel, and also from the other side of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans; indeed we are pleased that Chapman Knott, originally from Charleston but until recently living in New York, is now here for a 12 month stint in London. It was great to catch up with everyone later at Caffe Concerto where 40 members and friends enjoyed a meal following the meeting.
The Harp was the usual post meal venue for the stayers!
