Informal Dinner

Saturday 12th September 2026 — Ye Old Cock Tavern

The day started off with an early train into London, accompanied by a good book to while away the journey. First destination of the day; Shoreditch for a peal of Stedman Cinques. By no means an easy ring of bells but a good challenge to kick things off and the first peal on the bells since 2024. Then it was off to Hackney for a peal of Yorkshire Royal in the afternoon.

2 peals successfully rung and, having not rung a peal for over a month, it's fair to say my hands were a tad tender. And what better way to remedy that than to wrap them round a nice pint of XPA at the Pembury Tavern - and so began what was a good evening of eating, drinking and socialising.

The food on offer at Ye Old Cock Tavern went down well, with drinks flowing as they do at such an event. As the evening went on, while sinking into an extraordinarily comfortable arm chair, the opportunity arose to catch up with friends and speak to people I hadn't before.

Alas the time came to make my journey back home into the depths of Kent. Back on the train and reunited with my book, doing my best not to doze off. I can't help but look forward to the AGM in October where we'll get to do it all over again.
