The Society of Royal Cumberland Youths is holding its triennial formal dinner in London in 2018, on Saturday September 8th, 2018, in The Nave of Christ Church Spitalfields, Commercial Street, London E1 6LY. The dinner will be from 6pm for pre-dinner drinks, with guests sitting down to dine at 6.45pm. We need to have left the venue by 10.30pm.

Entry is via the main entrance, with disabled access via the crypt to the right of the church.

Three different types of real ale from the East London Brewery will be available (@£4.70 a pint), with payment after the event via an honour system using a ticklist.

Christ Church is an architectural masterpiece that has been lovingly restored to enhance architect Nicholas Hawksmoor’s authentic Baroque features, creating a breathtaking venue.

The Society has had a long association with this beautiful church; the 9th ever Cumberland peal was rung there in 1752, conducted by the first Cumberland master, George Patrick. The current 8 bells are the third installation since 1737, and are considered one of the finest eights in London. The church has undergone extensive work over the last 20 years and is now is a fine match to the bells inside and out.

Dinner tickets are now available at £69.00, which includes a welcome drink, three course meal and tea or coffee. Drinks will be available for purchase on the night in the bar downstairs in the Crypt, which will be serving until 9:45pm.

If you have a special dietary requirement please contact David C Bath the Honorary Secretary. This is the first time the dinner has been held in London since 2000 so we are looking forward to seeing as many members there as possible. Please get together parties of your friends and fellow ringers for this very special occasion in a unique venue.

There will be peal attempts on Saturday morning, and there will be drinking at The Pride of Spitalfields on the afternoon of the dinner. Suggested venues for the Friday night for those already in London include the Pride and The Crosse Keys.
