50th anniversary of the dedication of Bow bells
On Wednesday 21st December the SRCY practice will be at St Mary-le-Bow. Prior to our practice, there will be a service to mark the 50th anniversary of the dedication of the bells, to which all ringers are welcome. We have received the following message from Simon Meyer, Steeplekeeper at St Mary-le-Bow:
"On Wednesday 21st December we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the dedication of Bow bells. To mark the occasion we will be holding a short service at 6.05pm under the tower. 50 years ago the Duke of Edinburgh attended the dedication and, although he regrettably is unable to be present this year, he will be sending a representative. The service is expected to last about 25 minutes and will be followed by drinks. There will be ringing by an ASCY band before the meeting and the Cumberlands will be practising at Bow immediately following the service, so that these 2 societies will both have the opportunity to ring for the occasion.
"All ringers are very welcome at this event and I hope your society will be well represented".
